ColossalCon 2013

This was my first year attending ColossalCon - and my first time in Ohio! We attended for a weekend of photoshoots with Gestalt Photographs, convention fun, hanging out with the talented Jazzmin Jolly, and some much-needed relaxation. Definitely a good way to spend the weekend!

Day One - Thursday

We drove nearly 9 hours to get there Thursday, and after we arrived it was mostly downtime - we stayed at the Kalahari Resort & Waterpark where the convention was held with Jazzmin and William of Gestalt Photographs, in the biggest hotel room I think I've ever seen.

Three words. Personal. Hot. Tub. And this was the view, complete with a zipline 20 feet away. I could get used to this.
Unpacking, organising, and such was pretty easy, and eventually we wandered down to get food, spent a little time admiring the cosplays of Day 1 of the convention, and then spent a lot of time flailing and spazzing in the hotel room because apparently, that's just what we do.

Day Two - Friday

The next day wasn't quite so easy. Jazzmin had a crazy photoshoot schedule, but she was up early with us and we all got dressed - myself and Jazzy in lolita, and Kate in cosplay! It's the same outfit I met her in, so naturally, I had to dress to match, though Kate had a surprise of her own. I actually am pretty terrified of dolls, so when Kate brought her Gackt Pullip doll to match her cosplay, I proceeded to attempt to hide from it for as long as humanly possible. But there was still plenty of silliness to go around!

And camwhoring. There's always camwhoring. Jazzmin looks too cute to  NOT take a photo with!
We spent a little time wandering the con, but Jazzmin had a photoshoot, so Kate and I retired to the room for our own photoshoot. You can't have a hotel room that awesome without using it at least a couple times for photos, right?

I don't even know how I ended up with the doll. It still terrifies me.

And that was the day. At the end of the day, we went to the ball, and then out of sheer exhaustion we went back to the room and passed out. So much to do, so little time to do it... and so little time to sleep!

Day Three - Saturday

Day three was also a bit of a blur! Kate and I had special dresses made in honour of the new Star Trek movie - Star Trek (TNG) lolita was going to happen, and we were going to make it happen. Many thanks to my mum for getting the dresses and accessories put together! It really gave us a fun cosplay, and a lot of people responded to it. But first things first - morning photoshoot!

And breakfast. I don't know why this was breakfast. It just was.
We got ourselves dressed, put on some of my favourite wigs (RockStar Wigs' Farrah Collection - so much love!), and headed out to one of the grassier areas. I got to play captain for a day, with Kate by my side as a version of Dr. Crusher, and we pretended we were marooned on an abandoned, M-class planet. I guess I was just a bad captain.

Whatever. We still looked awesome, bad captain or not.

After that it was back to the con for a bit to buy a Meowchi, and then another shoot, though a little unexpected - this time with an old friend of sorts, Jake! I've been trying to drag him into a group shoot for ages, and again, our hotel room was an awesome backdrop, so we made that work out perfectly!

Meowchiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.
I couldn't quite find the wig I wanted for the shoot, but between Kate and I, we were able to turn my Farrah wig into something resembling RockStar Wigs' Cool Kitten series - I really loved the effect, and I think I might even do it again in the future with a couple other wigs!

The rest of the day was spent relaxing. Cue lots of hot tubbing, relaxing, and plotting for the next convention!

Day 4 - Sunday

We were planning to drive all the way back to NY on Sunday, so early in the morning we got up and packed and got ready to go! After some brief congoing, we set out on our way back and headed home. What a trip!

Special thanks to William for making this trip possible!
