Happy Anniversary & NOH8

June 2nd marked 1 year since my girlfriend and I 'officially' began dating. We were at a shoot together in Washington, DC this past weekend, but we managed to sneak in two coupley segments of our photoshoot; one because of the date, and one because of the month.

We both have Japanese pajamas ('kigurumi'), and they're pretty adorable, so we decided those were our outfits for the first part. I agree with the photographer, my friend Alexa Poletti - they're pretty much adorable.

The best kisses are bear kisses. Right?
Sometimes I think I'm fierce and terrifying.
Bonus flop.

The second part was in support of a cause near and dear to my heart. June is Pride month, and the NOH8 Campaign is a great organisation to support, especially this month. They help raise awareness through what they call 'silent protest photoshoots'. The following are our contribution:

Girlfriend!

Cool photos aside, it's foreign to think of the idea of a world where being LGBTQ won't bring some kind of negative impact, but all I can hope is that one day, that sort of world will exist and people can simply exist without having to fear living honestly and happily. Until then, Kate and I will keep figuring it out (and making it up) as we go and hoping for that eventuality.

  1. Happy anniversary!! :D
You both look so cute and yup, the kigurumis are pretty much adorable. ♥

The campaign sounds very cool and for a great cause. I think there's much more awareness and there's also been lots of talking about the subject all over the world for a while. For me it's weird, because I think it is not necessary to make such a big deal out of it, for me it's just normal..maybe the reason is that I grew up with it - have friends and also family, that are in a relationship with the same gender. People can't choose the person they fall in love with. ♥ ^__^

    1. Thanks! ♥ And thank you for your support! I think it's kind of weird that people get so bunched up about it (my family included), but at the end of the day, it's just humans loving other humans, right? I'm really glad you see it that way. :)
